Managed Hosting provides the world-class infrastructure necessary
to maintain the server your web site resides on 24x7. The primary
Cisco-powered data centre is operated out of San Antonio, TX with
a second data centre in London, England. These data centres have
been engineered to avoid any single point of failure in connectivity,
power, or HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning). And
because the data centres are not open to the public, you can rest
assured that only a handful of highly trained, level-three technicians
will be allowed within close physical proximity to your site's server.
Internet Connectivity
All data centres are designed to handle not only Australia's,
but some of the world’s most complex web sites and server configurations.
They have been engineered to stringent, high standards to ensure
that there is no single point of failure in connectivity, power
or HVAC. All centres are equipped with the very latest in routing
technology and maintained by expert network engineers. In addition,
agreements are in place with five major bandwidth providers to ensure
that the robust, Cisco-Powered Network™ is always up and running.
Physical Security
The data center is physically isolated from everyone but level
three technicians. Public access is strictly forbidden. Access to
the floor the data centre resides on is restricted to those holding
military-grade passcards. Furthermore, access to the data centre
itself is restricted by Biometric hand scanners.
Precision Environment
The data centres are meticulously tidy. The data centre's Liebert
HVAC systems are N+1 redundant to ensure that - even in the event
of an entire system failure - there is a duplicate system on standby
to take over. The air in the data centres is filtered every 90 seconds
to remove any dust and contaminants. Power systems are designed
to run uninterrupted, even in the unlikely event of a total power
outage. All servers are fed with conditioned UPS (Uninterruptible
Power Supply) power that will run if utility power fails. The UPS
power subsystem is N+1 redundant with instantaneous failover. In
the event of an extended power outage, on-site diesel generators
can run indefinitely. The generator is regularly tested to ensure
that it will continue to function in the event of an emergency.
An advanced fire-suppression system is in place to prevent any fire
from spreading, in the unlikely event that one could start. All
cables to servers and routing equipment are securely tied down,
and cable racks suspended from the ceiling provide dual routes for
all cables. In the event that all cables on a cable rack are cut
or burned, packets of data will automatically be routed to a second
set of cables on the other side of the data centre.
Core Routing Equipment
As a Cisco-Powered Network™, only fully-redundant, enterprise-class
routing equipment is used. All equipment is housed in its own secure,
core routing room and fed with its own redundant power supply. Five
different fibre carriers enter the room at disparate access points
to ensure that there is no service failure, even in the unlikely
event of a fibre cut.
Network Technicians
We know as well as you do that our data centres are only as
good as the people who run them. The data centre's certified network
technicians are trained to the highest standards to ensure the network
is always up and running.
